Revealed: Who England and Scotland will face in their Euro 2024 groups

By John Mercury December 3, 2023

England will face Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia in their Euro 2024 group next summer.

Meanwhile, Scotland will play the tournament’s opening match against Germany in Munich on 14 June – and will later face Switzerland and Hungary.

Wales still need to win two play-off matches in March to reach the group stage, but will face stiff competition from France, the Netherlands and Austria if they do.

UEFA’s live draw was overshadowed after sexual noises were played during the broadcast, causing a stir on social media.

There were smirks in the audience as the sound of a woman moaning interrupted proceedings for several minutes.

Serial prankster Daniel Jarvis claimed he was responsible for the disruption – and he had previously taken credit for a similar incident during live BBC coverage of a game between Wolverhampton and Liverpool.

Euro 2024 draw in full

Group A – Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland

Group B – Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania

Group C – Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England

Group D – Poland/Wales/Finland/Estonia, Netherlands, Austria, France

Group E – Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Israel/Bosnia & Herzegovina/Ukraine/Iceland

England are firm favourites to claim silverware in the tournament – bolstered by the likes of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

Manager Gareth Southgate said: “They are used to playing in big matches and have produced regularly.”

He believes the squad’s momentum has been building, adding: “If you are continually in those latter stages, most teams that win go close and then get there.”

The Three Lions memorably faced Denmark during a tense semi-final at Euro 2020, winning 2-1 in extra time before eventually losing to Italy in the final.
